In the August of 2007, a cyclist, Tony Cole, on visiting the Composites Laboratory at the university that Graeme Kidson worked at asked: “Wow, so… Can you fix my bike frame then”? And that is how it all started.

We are an “engineering led” company. Solid, proven engineering underpins all the work that we do. So what do we do then? Well, to start, let’s inspect properly:

We identify areas of concern utilising Non-Destructive Testing methods (NDT). Magnifying and boroscopic video allow precise visual inspection of the inside and outside of your frame, while our ultrasonic flaw detectors allow us to see “under the skin”.

So, your frame needs repair – why should you choose us to repair it?

We utilise 3D CAD (which costs us a fortune) to design jigs and fixtures that will ensure that your frame is correctly aligned. We then utilise our large 3D printer or our CNC milling machine to fabricate and deploy these accuracy insuring devices!

We understand Carbon Fibre.

• We know how to utilise weaves optimally.
• We know when to use high modulus fibre, (and when to use high strength).
• We know how to pick the correct epoxy matrix.
• We will design the ideal process method keeping the Fibre Volume Fraction (V_f) high and the void content low.
• We won’t create stress concentration points.
• We won’t make your bike ride like a plank (or a noodle).
• We won’t create unsightly bulges, lumps or bumps
• We won’t make your bike weigh a ton! (We’re weight-weenies too!)
• We confirm the integrity of our repairs through more NDT.

So now it’s fixed, but it’s not pretty – let’s make it look good!

We have a fully qualified, monumentally talented graphic designer who will re-create the damaged graphics of your bike with precision!

We have a 112 000-colour paint library in-house, we can match your bikes original hues!

We never, ever, ever skimp on paint quality. We stick to one, proven automotive brand and we do not deviate. We use five different types of primer, two adhesion promotors, gosh, we even use four different types of thinner, all the same brand, rather than taking chances with cheaper alternatives!

Our final coats – our clears, are anti-scratch and toughened against paint chips.

So now it’s fixed and looks like it did before it broke, how do I trust it when I’m about to land the double-jump of my life or hitting 85kph while super tucked down a 12% gradient? (Gulp)!

We guarantee our structural repairs for life. There can be no more convincing validation of our engineering and quality led approach. We know for sure that your bike will not break at our repair under normal use conditions (Meaning pretty much any appropriate riding – just not crashing)! If it’s a Downhill bike, our repair will withstand a 5m drop-off landing. We’re confident!
